Today was a good day. I had a great night's sleep, finished my sister's painting, and mastered the intricacies of the F.  Also, the hot water is back on!

Then I walked-over to Deakin and picked-up my assignments from last semseter, and I've gotten HDs on all of them. This means I have completed the University equivalent of Mortal Kombat's "Flawless Victory". Granted, they were all low HDs, between 80 and 85 percent, but I am still pretty freaking happy.

then I went and called Dad to tell him this exciting news, and he told me that CGU have finally accepted his claim to serious injury, which means he can get an out-of-court settlement, and all that has to be done is to haggle over a fee. This will be a lengthy haggle, but it is wonderful news. My dad has been off work for three years with a serious neck injury, scraping by on the dole, and only just recently managed to get himself put over to a disability pension. He's in a position where the best he could manage would be part-time work in the service industry, down from earning $45,000 a year painting ships and houses. Added to this, he's constantly addled with pain and painkillers, and recently had to go and see a psychiatrist to avoid going mad. This money won't keep him for the rest of his life, but at least he'll be out of limbo and maybe able to set himself up with a business or something.

So all in all, things are on the up and up!

On a downer, I was thinking about the "Luck of the Fryrish" episode of Futurama this morning and almost cried. I miss my brother.
